Making Corrugated Cardboard

Corrugated cardboard is made by putting three layers together — one on the top, one on the bottom and a wavy one in the middle (called “fluting”) to give it strength.

Corrugated Cardboard

Another common type of cardboard, called 'paperboard', is used to make cereal boxes and other similar packaging. It looks like a single layer, although it can be made up of several thin layers glued together.

Some corrugated cardboard is so strong that people can make furniture, large containers and even dog kennels from it! This means you can even use recycled paper to make things that might otherwise be made from wood or metal.
